Boston Mayor Tries To Hide Overreaction By Banning Guerrilla Marketing

In the wake of Boston’s massive overreaction to some harmless blinking LED signs, the city’s mayor, Thomas Menino, apparently wants to ban guerrilla marketing, which he calls a “nitwit technique.” It’s good to see the guy’s nothing if not consistent — though it’s too bad that he seems to be consistently hyperbolic.

“Total Hi Def” DVDs feature HD DVD on one side, Blu-ray on the other

Warner Brothers will be making some of its films available on “Total Hi Def” DVDs, the company announced at a CES presentation on Tuesday. The discs are, ingeniously, HD DVD on one side and Blu-ray on the other.
The combo discs are the same size as always, but contain both single and dual layers for both formats.

PS3 demand slows, retailer says “no one wants them.”

One retailer spoke to me on condition of anonymity, and broke down his version of the situation. “It’s not that we’ve gotten more PS3s than Wiis, it’s just that no one wants them. We’ve seen a few returned. We have four in the store right now,” he said.

Searchers to drop care packages for missing CNET editor

TiVo Series 3 to be released September 17th, for $799?

According to a tipster Todd who works for Best Buy, the TiVo Series 3 might be out of beta soon and is now showing up in their system. According to the computer It is scheduled to be in stock on September 17th with a Best Buy SKU of 7974418 (UPC of 400079744186 and Model TCD648250B). The price is listed at $799, but the street date field is blank.
